SURGICEL Powder is an absorbable haemostat of powdered oxidised regenerated cellulose, applied to broad areas of continuous oozing where a sheet is impractical; it is ready to apply without mixing or preparation and is absorbed after use. SURGIFLO haemostatic matrix is a flowable gelatin matrix combined with thrombin and delivered through an applicator, for haemostasis in confined spaces and deep or irregular bleeding sites that a sheet cannot reach.

Both are Ethicon products from Johnson & Johnson MedTech, for which ViSurg is an authorised distributor. They are used in General and laparoscopic surgery and in Orthopaedics and trauma, and are bought per case like the sutures and staplers from the same manufacturer.
