Overview

STRATAFIX Spiral Barbed Suture is a knotless tissue control device that uses barbs in a spiral pattern to approximate tissue without tying surgical knots. The barbs are fixating, which allows tension to be maintained on each pass. Absorbable designs come in bidirectional and unidirectional configurations, with antibacterial protection and the choice of dyed or undyed PDS and MONOCRYL polymers. Non-absorbable designs come in bidirectional and unidirectional options with polypropylene polymer.

It is used in open, laparoscopic and robotic procedures, such as abdominoplasty, breast reconstruction, caesarean section, hysterectomy, total knee replacement, total hip replacement and hernia repair. Its specialties include orthopaedics, cardiovascular, obstetrics and gynaecology, general surgery, hernia, hepatobiliary, neurosurgery, colorectal, bariatrics, plastics, urology and vascular. The bidirectional configuration allows two clinicians to close at the same time with a single device.
